The most expensive degree programs in Australia (2025)
Go8 dominate the top end of the market
Analysis
On a total cost of program basis, the Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine/Arts at University of New South Wales Sydney (UNSW) is Australia’s most expensive degree program in 2025.
A full fee paying international student would be expected to pay $692,000 in course fees to complete the 8 year program.
Those looking to save a little pocket change may choose to drop the Arts component and complete Australia’s 2nd most expensive degree program, the Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW.
While future medical doctors will forego the benefits of a well rounded education in the Arts, they will save $188,000.
The 6 year Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW still tallies up to over half a million dollars at $504,000 for the program.
Learning to save lives (and teeth) in Australia can be incredibly expensive, with Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science programs making up all of Australia’s Top 10 Most Expensive Degree Programs in 2025.
8 of the Top 10 are programs offered by 6 of the Group of Eight universities (USyd takes both the 9th and 10th spot).
International families planning to send their future doctor to UNSW might consider that a 1 bedroom apartment in the local Randwick area costs in the same range as the total degree program at the time of writing.
We might think of our homes and education as investments, and at prices this high, let’s hope those investments pay off.
